Best Muay Thai Camps in Phuket

As we know, the main sport here in Thailand is Muay Thai. For us westerners, that means kickboxing with a twist. Muay Thai is part of the culture and is highly well regarded. As soon as kids can walk, they are taught the art of Muay Thai. It is what they grow up on and become a huge chunk of the Thai’s work and livelihood. First they train to become fighters and compete in competitions. Then they retire from competing and use their skills to teach others at Muay Thai training camps.

We’re spoilt for choice on where to practice Muay Thai here in Phuket, but we’ve put together the very best ones so you can get a taste of the real authentic Muay Thai and become a pro in no time!

  1. Tiger Muay Thai
Probably the largest and most popular camp is Tiger Muay Thai. Tiger Muay Thai was the first gym to hit Soi Taied in Chalong and made the street what it is today, with gyms and healthy cafes popping up everyday, turning it into a little Phuket Health Hub. Tiger Muay Thai has state of the art trainers, sparring Muay Thai classes and also one on one Muay Thai personal training too.
  2. Dragon Muay Thai
Also located on Soi Taied, Dragon Muay Thai is a smaller more understated Muay Thai gym, but still great in its standards and teaching. If you prefer that smaller more personal touch, with individualised attention, this place is for you.
  1. Sinbi Muay Thai
Located in Naiharn, this place has been around for years and still continues to deliver on quality and excellence. Sinbi Muay Thai offers two group classes a day, everyday. A two hour session in the morning and a two hour session in the afternoon. If you’re dedicated and ready to get stuck in, this place will teach you everything you need to know. They even host Muay Thai competitions here too.
  1. Patong Boxing Stadium
As well as a boxing stadium, this Muay Thai gym in Patong offers group classes and training facilities too. Their programme is strict and intense but if you’re serious about Muay Thai, it’s the place to be. You’ll learn the techniques of shadow boxing, pad boxing and bag boxing, plus all the other skills that go in between, so those dreams of fighting in the ring can actually come try!
