One of the best bits about going on holiday is exploring new places, and what better way to do that than on a boat. Immerse yourself in nature, soak up the ocean water and look at far as the horizon will go. Here are our 3 favourite types of boats in Phuket and the best ways to use them.
1. Long Tail Boat
The long tail boats are the most authentic and classic boats in the whole of Thailand. These boats have been around for decades. They are typically wooden, painted in bright bold colours and have a wooden narrow pointed tip at the front of the boat. These boats are best used for short distances, for example travelling from to Coral Island or a similar nearby beach.
2. Catamaran
Catamarans are more commonly used for large groups of people. Their size can vary but the larger boats generally have a capacity of around 200 people. If you ever take a trip to Krabi, Phi Phi or Koh Lanta, the chances are you’ll be in one of these. Make sure you head to the top deck for the best views and lie out at the back for the perfect sunbathe.
3. Speed Boat
Speed boats are the more common boat used around the island. These are small and easy to zip around on. You can hire one from your local beach or even head down to Royal Phuket Marina to see all the beautiful boats lined up and ready to go!
